Bob Hicok is the author of numerous poetry collections, including The Legend of Light (Felix Pollak Prize), Animal Soul (National Book Critics Circle Award finalist), This Clumsy Living (Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt National Prize), Words for Empty, Words for Full, Elegy Owed, and Sex & Love. His work has appeared frequently in Best American Poetry, and he has received Pushcart Prizes and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the NEA. His poetry is known for its accessible, meditative style and humane engagement with contemporary life. His upcoming book, Breathe, will be published in 2026. He teaches creative writing at Purdue University.
