Award winning poet and author, Michael David Sowder writes about wilderness, fatherhood, yoga, and contemplative spirituality. He is author of three collections of poems and the scholarly study, Whitman’s Ecstatic Union. His first book of poetry was chosen by Diane Wakoski to win the T.S. Eliot Award. His new collection, Sacred Letters: Sanskrit, Yoga, and Awakening the Divine, is inspired by the letters of the Sanskrit alphabet. A longtime yoga and meditation teacher, Michael frequently travels to India, where in 2014 he was a Fulbright Scholar. He lives in Logan, Utah, with his partner, the writer Jennifer Sinor, and their two children.
